THE HOUSE
Great Room
THE ROOM: The great room is an open area on the main floor of the house, featuring a two-story, window-filled wall that looks out over the deck towards the nature preserve behind the property.
SMART LIGHTS: Much of the house is set up with smart lights, controlled by an Amazon Echo device and remote control dimmer switches. In the main area of the house (great room + kitchen + dining), most of the bulbs are colored smart lights. Most of the lamps and some accessory lights have standard, manual bulbs. See the Amazon Alexa and Smart Lights sections for details on using these features.
GAS FIREPLACE: There is a gas fireplace in the great room, which can assist greatly in heating up the house. It is operated by a silver remote control kept on (or near) the mantle and can be set to maintain a certain ambient temperature. Please do not leave the fireplace turned on overnight or when you leave for any length of time.
AIR CONDITIONING: An air conditioning unit is kept in the window in the dining area during the summer months. It must be first plugged in and can be operated on its control panel or by a remote. It is useful for decreasing the humidity in the main room during the afternoon hours of the summer.
OVERHEAD FAN: To help with room temperature, it is advisable to turn on the overhead fan in the great room, which is set to pull air cool upwards in the summer and push warm air downwards in the winter. The fan assists in maintaining an even temperature throughout the main area and loft of the house in any season. The switch for the fan is on the wall below the stairs to the loft, labeled as “Fan.”
SPEAKERS: There is a Bluetooth speaker on the small table next to the stairs, which is plenty loud enough to also be heard on the deck using the volume dial on the back. See the Audio & Video Devices section regarding this speaker.
READING NOOK: There is a reading nook in the area of the loft overhanging the great room. There is a chair, ottoman, and lamp in that area, along with a small shelf of books.
COFFEE TABLE: The coffee table in the great room contains a copy of this handbook, a map of the resort’s walking/skiing trails, and a blank scorecard from the golf course.

Den & Bar
BASEMENT LEVEL: The den and bar area are on the basement level of the house, a secluded gathering place with a television/entertainment center and a gas fireplace. There are two sliding doors in this area that lead out to the patio, hot tub, and yard. There is a bathroom on this level that is easily accessible from the den.
SMART LIGHTS: Most of the overhead lights in the den and bar are smart lights, controlled by an Amazon Echo and remote controls. The smart bulbs in this area can also be set to any array of vibrant colors. See the Amazon Alexa and Smart Lights sections for details on using those features.
GAS FIREPLACE: There is a gas fireplace in the corner of this room, providing a quick and powerful source of heat. It is operated by a remote control, which is found on the table in the center of the den. This fireplace will continue to produce heat until it is manually turned off, so please do not leave it on overnight, for extended periods, or anytime you leave the house.
BAR AREA: The bar area includes a small sink and a microwave oven. Some pint and shot glasses can be found in the cabinets, and there is a small refrigerator build in under the countertop for storing/separating extra beverages. There are also several bottles of alcohol on the bar. If you choose to consume the house liquor, please consider donating bottles of similar value to the collection.
BAR TABLE: The bar table is accompanied by two bar stools. Additional seating can be added by using the tables along the kitchen counter on the main level.
TELEVISION: There is no cable TV service to the house, but there is a Roku player for streaming video on the television in the den. The entertainment center also has a DVD, Blu-Ray, and VHS player, accompanied by a variety of movies. The entertainment system in this room is wired to surround sound speakers, to which can also be connected via Bluetooth. Please see the Technology and Audio & Video Devices sections for further instructions on using those devices.
GAMES: There are decks of playing cards on the bar table, as well as other card and board games in the bottom-right cabinet of the bar. There are also plenty of books and magazines kept in various places around the house for your enjoyment, as well as a free lending library in the Lodge.
